I was talking to a man the other day who was ticked off about the way he was treated by a waiter in a local restaurant. I listen to his side and I could understand his view and why he would be so angry. But his attitude was so bad that his thinking was becoming unstable. I asked, "Sir, did you consider the other side?" He responded with, "I don’t want to see it from her side. She was wrong and that is it." Wow! His attitude was blocking him from getting to the truth. Your attitude gives your life stability or causes it to fall apart. It is said that your “attitude determines your altitude”. I like to say your attitude (the way you view life and handle life) determines where your go and how far you will go in life. 3 Stabilizers for your attitude: 1. Learn – First understand that your attitude, be it positive or negative, is a learned behavior or view that you have picked up from your parents, friends, teachers, etc. You might have heard the statement, “You act just like your momma”. When that is said you usually are reflecting an attitude or behavior that your momma would do in that same setting. The good news is that although you might have learned an attitude traits from your momma, daddy or close friend you can change your negative attitudes. To break an unwanted habit, a new habit must be learned. Start to look at people that are effective and successful around you, not the ones that get the laughs and seem to follow the latest trends, but those that have positive attitudes, are solid thinkers and are goal oriented. Learn and adapt positive attitudes to replace negativity. Maya Angelou said it this way, "If you don't like something change it, if you can't change it change your attitude." 2. Clarify – It is said that, "One’s perception is one’s reality and their reality dictates their attitude". This is true but not the end of the story. One’s perception must have a foundational point that is universal for all. In other words, this universal perception for everyone is rooted in something that does not change from person to person or situation to situation. Whatever this is, it brings clarity to all. What is this? It is Truth. When we all have an objective attitude for what’s true, then we can clarify the truth in the mist of sensitive feelings and emotions. I heard the other day a statement that really helped me. It was, “Emotions and feelings give you information not instructions." When you clarify your attitude to resemble what is true you are able to have an attitude of success. 3. Forward – John Maxwell has a book called “Falling Forward”. In it he makes mention of keeping a positive attitude in the mist of tough mess ups and challenges. If you make a mistake or fail, don’t allow your failure to cause your attitude to be one of “I’m a complete failure”. You are the one that has control. A positive attitude is able to take the worst situation and learn from the failures and mistakes. Jessie Jackson made popular the phrase, “Keep hope alive”. Strive daily to work on implementing the attitude of hope – I’m moving forward and getting better. Go forward from your mistakes not backwards into regret and self-pity. A forward thinking attitude will give you stability in your life. Stabilize your life by learning how to have a positive attitude, seek clarity based on truth and staying forward focused on a great outcome. LifeVersation * 256-654-1015

Well timed message! As I reflected over Father's Day weekend on my father and all of the father figures that spoke wisdom, power, and truth in to my life, I could not imagine life without them and their stories. Now is my turn to keep it moving forward!

I'm encouraged by your weekly blog. Forgiveness is one that I struggle with especially with those I know are wrong and they know they were wrong. I must let go. Thanks for sharing.

Isn't wonderful that in acknowledging our weaknesses we actually can become stronger. Who dosen't have weaknesses? Who is perfect? Besides Christ Jesus! Actually it is through my weaknesses, my imperfections that I recognize my desperate need of Him. Add to that, the fact that He loves me...WOW...I must give my life to Him everyday. I must commit to Jesus all of me, especially my weak areas (fact is I'm totally weak compared to Jesus). I must love Him and give Him priority in my life. Only then can I be successful. Only then can I be made strong. As I (we) stay connected to Jesus Christ, even when it seems like we lose, we are winners. Even when it seems like we can't overcome this situation, we are overcomers in the longrun. When it looks like the outcome is bad, God has a way of turning that thing around. Yeah, if you know what I know your praising Him right now. Romans 8:28 tells us "And we know that God causes everything to work for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. Keep up the good work, God bless you and yours.

Another interesting topic, struggles. We all have them, some big some small, but they are always present. I've been told that without struggle there is no growth. I've heard that life is a struggle. Is there any true value to your struggle? Does it have purpose or do you just want to win, or be right? What 's your motive? Maybe, you just want to prove your point. Is your struggle all you live for? Does it have positive effects on others? Constant struggle can't be good, can it? If we are constantly struggling, when do we get the chance to enjoy the fruits of our struggles? When do we get a chance to just rest, chill? Is it possible for constant struggle to effect our worship, our attitude, our relationships? Might it stunt our growth? I understand that bodybuilders must take a couple days off in order that the muscles they've been working on may grow. Now thats interesting. Yep, we need to focus through our struggles. Evaluate and make the fine adjustments that it takes to gain the greastest outcome. One(s) that God would be pleased with. Selfless motives that have a positive impact on our area of influence. According to the third step we must "take time" . Take time away from your struggle. I'm sure you know to much pressure will bust a pipe. Don't give up, just step back, catch your breath. Relax for afew. Thank God for the progress that you've made thus far. Take a moment to encourage someone in their struggle. Then get back in yours, with new life and a fresher perspective.
